Dr. Ben Balevi graduated with degrees in Engineering and Dentistry from McGill University, and a Master of Science from the University of Oxford. He completed a dental residency at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, while teaching and pursuing research in dental materials at the University of Toronto. He practiced many years in his own dental office in Ontario before establishing a practice in Vancouver.
Currently, Dr. Balevi is an associate with the Faculty of Medicine at UBC, and on staff at Vancouver General Hospital. He has fellowships with the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the International College of Dentists (ICD), the International Academy of Dentists (IAD), and the Pierre Fouchard Academy (PFA). He is a member of the critical review panel with the American Dental Association's Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry, and is a peer-reviewer for the International Journal of Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery, as well as the Journal of Oral Oncology.
His research interests include patients' health state utilities, decision tree analysis, and economic analyses of health (including dental) care. He has many publications to his credit. Recently, Dr. Balevi was honoured by the Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry as a "Leader in Evidence-Based Dentistry". Dr. Balevi is very proud of this recognition by his peers.
"It's in part because of his engineering training that he has created an approach to private practice that incorporates the very best elements of evidence-based dentistry in a visionary and efficient manner that I am certain provides his patients with the best possible approach to care ... Ben is clearly a well-trained and highly motivated evidence-based practitioner whose commitment to the process is second to none"
